Thank you for having me as a guest speaker on anti-bullying for your two grade 7 class and one grade 6 class. It was surreal actually to tell my personal story of bullying approximately at the same age as they were. The emotions resonated with all of us. What was really interesting is that all the children understood instinctively why I could not tell my parents. While being questioned on bulling by journalist they did not understand why children do not tell their parents.
The answer: we feel that we are tell tales and the repercussions the next day at school will be even more horrible and that it was humiliating to tell your parents for many diverse reasons.
